Principal's Report
As Term 3 draws to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on the many opportunities and achievements that have enriched our school community over the past ten weeks.
Term 4 has already begun with great momentum, filled with excursions and activities that continue to enhance the learning experiences of our students. These opportunities extend beyond the classroom and allow our young people to engage deeply with their learning.
Curriculum Enrichment Activities
We have had the privilege of offering a variety of curriculum-enhancing experiences:
- Kinmen Island exchange visit
- White Card and First Aid training courses
- ADF presentation to our Year 10 students
- Book Week celebrations
- Science Week activities
- Battle of the Houses afternoon
- Year 8 visits to Hellyer College, UTAS, and William Adams
- Year 7 Science and HASS excursion to Wings Wildlife Park
We also welcomed over 40 Year 3 students to Wynyard High School to work alongside our staff and students. This was a fantastic opportunity to build connections and showcase the learning culture at our school.
Transition Programs
Term 3 marked the beginning of our transition programs. On Tuesday, 22 July, we welcomed Year 6 students and their families to our Parent Information Evening. This event was a great success and has helped strengthen our connections with local feeder schools, including Table Cape Primary School and Boat Harbour Primary School. We thank both schools for their ongoing support and commitment to improving opportunities for young people in our region.
We are excited to welcome Year 6 students again in Term 4 for their Orientation Day, which will be their first official day as Wynyard High School students. This milestone is an important part of their transition and we look forward to supporting them as they begin their high school journey.
Sporting Opportunities
Our students have also participated in a range of sporting events this term, including:
- 3x3 Basketball
- Badminton
- Netball
- Girls Gala Day Football
Year 10 Pathways
It has been a busy term for our Year 10 students, many of whom have participated in Work Experience placements. In collaboration with Hellyer College and Wynyard High School staff, students have been exploring pathways and opportunities for 2026.
As we look ahead to Term 4, we remain focused on supporting our students to finish the year strongly. I look forward to celebrating their achievements with you all at our upcoming events, including our End of Year Presentation Evening.
I wish everyone a safe and restful break.
